Gertrude Adwoa Ohene-Asienim

Gertrude Adwoa Ohene-Asienim, FICS, is a maritime executive, educator, chartered shipbroker and consultant with extensive expertise in shipping, trade, and the oil and gas industry. She currently serves as Executive Director of Whitestone Shipbrokers Ghana Ltd. and the West Africa School of Shipping, advancing maritime education and professional training globally.


Her career spans leadership roles as Country Manager for PGS Ghana, Yinson Gazania Operations, Oma Labour and Procurement Solutions, and Offshore Shipbrokers Ghana, managing complex projects and joint ventures for major Oil and Gas international firms in seismic operations, FPSO operations and maintenance, Subsea engineering, shipbroking and labour management. She has also consulted for ECOWAS, the European Union CRIMGO programme, the National Insurance Commission, and USAID’s Ghana Trade and Investment (GTI) Programme.


Gertrude is deeply committed to industry development through education and capacity building. She serves as a resource person and trainer on topical issues in shipping, trade, and oil and gas, while mentoring the next generation of maritime professionals. In academia, she is a part-time lecturer at the Regional Maritime University, Ghana, an Associate Tutor at MLA College, UK, and examiner for the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, UK, bridging industry practice with academic excellence. She is the President of WISTA Ghana, and a Board Member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Ghana, and previously chaired the Membership Committee of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, London, serving on its Controlling and Executive Councils.


Gertrude holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Maritime Law from the University of Oslo, specialising in Marine Insurance and Petroleum law.
